Dr. Ikpe studied for his MA and PhD in Philosophy at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria and later obtained his M.Phil. degree in Conflict Management, from the University of Port Elizabeth in South Africa.

Prior to teaching at the University of Botswana, he taught Philosophy at the National University of Lesotho, the Universities of Uyo and Cross River State, both in Uyo, Nigeria and was a visiting scholar at the University of the West Indies, Kingston, Jamaica.

Dr. Ikpe is a past member of the American Philosophical Association and the Nigerian Philosophical Association and is currently a member of the Philosophical Society of Southern Africa, the International Society for African Philosophy and Studies and the Aristotelian Society.

His research interest is in Philosophy and Development, Social Epistemology, Public Ethics and Critical Thinking.
